Candidate Statement

  • Lifelong Democrat

  • Taught Grades 1, 2, 4, 5, 4th grade Quest Program, and Music. Taught in DoDEA, Germany and Japan, at HAFB, in FL, VA, NE, WA, TX, where I was chosen as local Elementary Teacher of the Year and again as Regional Teacher of the Year in 2004. Retired, yet still actively engaged

  • Accomplishments follow while in DPOC:

  • Ran for School Board, came in 2nd out of 4 candidates behind the incumbent

  • Elected at large NM Delegate to the National DNC convention in 2016, the only representative of Otero County at this convention

  • Was on Otero County Public Land Use Advisory Council, where we helped rewrite portions of the Otero County Comprehensive Plan and saved Otero Mesa from becoming a Plutonium waste dumping ground via the bore hole project

  • Participated in and also have organized multiple rallies to include Tornillo tent city, El Paso border crisis, multiple women’s rallies in Las Cruces, Albuquerque, and Alamogordo, rallies for candidates, rallies for 5 County Commissioners, not 3, rallies to save federal public lands from land grab to include Organ Mountains Desert Peaks and Bear’s Ears

  • Attended and spoke at County Commission Meetings for over a decade in order to effect important changes in the way Otero County is governed

  • Walked through precincts multiple times to campaign for candidates or acquire signatures so candidates could run, also texted, called, emailed, and postcard wrote for various candidates.

  • Experienced SCC

  • Served in DPNM Judiciary Committee and DPNM Rules Committee, participated in SPARK Committee DPNM Platform writing

  • Elected as Ward 7 Chair. Please join me in our efforts to continue to make Otero County Dems all it can be.
